On Tuesday 15 September 2015 our firearms law specialist, Laura Saunsbury, was interviewed by no less than ten BBC local radio stations. On the day which saw the publication of the report by Her Majesty's Inspectorate of Constabularies into the level of efficiency with which Police forces in England and Wales carry out their firearms licensing functions, local radio stations across the country sought Laura's opinions on this subject. They put to her the question of whether it is too easy now for members of the public to obtain a firearm or shotgun certificate without proper checks on their suitability being carried out by the police.
