A 38-year-old woman was last week given a prison sentence for causing death by dangerous driving following a road traffic collision in Tywford.
The incident occurred on 16 September 2012, when Victoria McClure caused the death of Anthony Hilson, who was cycling on the A4 Bath Road at the time. According to reports, Mrs McClure may have been distracted by her satnav when she struck Mr Hilson.
She was found guilty by a jury of causing death by dangerous driving, following her trial at Reading Crown Court in July. She was jailed for 18 months and disqualified from driving for two and a half years.
As this case shows, death by dangerous driving is an extremely serious charge that can result in a lengthy prison sentence. Factors that can result in the charge include driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs, sleep deprivation, distracted driving, tachometer offences or other contributing factors.
But no matter what the circumstances, we will vigorously protect your rights and defend your side.
