Fiona and Giovanni Lombardo acted for an Italian national who faced extradition by the Italian Government in relation to charges concerning serious organised crime as a young man. He fled Italy and settled in the UK, however was convicted in his absence by the Italian courts.

Represented by the stupendous James Stansfeld of Furnival Chambers, it was held by the Court that there were serious concerns about the fairness of the trial in Italy which led to his conviction many years ago, that he was not a fugitive, and that because of the fundamental change in his circumstances it would be too oppressive to extradite.
