gavelPerverting the Course of Justice

Our client, who is of good character, was charged with perverting the course of justice after alleging she had been raped by two strangers following the Christmas party at a well known merchant bank. At the time, though, she was on medication for depression and anxiety and, having also consumed alcohol at the party, found her memory significantly impaired. No one was arrested nor charged following the allegation and, after submitting written representations to the Crown for the third time, the case was finally dropped at Blackfriars Crown Court on Wednesday 14 May 2014. All litigation and advocacy was undertaken by Tony Meisels.

Rape

Unan Choudhury’s client was acquitted of rape on Tuesday 20 May 2014 following a two day trial. The prosecution offered no evidence following the complainant’s cross examination. She was exposed during cross examination to such an extent by Elizabeth Lambert of counsel that the prosecution had no alternative but to offer no evidence before Unan’s client even took the stand!
