Crime & Fraud Cases
  • fraudJames Reilly acted for a client who was acquitted of a multi-handed conspiracy to rob in Oxford Crown Court.
  • Rhys Mardon acted for a Director of one of the largest independent waste disposal companies in the UK who faced criminal prosecution brought in connection with environmental law breaches. The case was dropped by the Environment Agency after representations were made by Rhys.
  • Rhys also acted for an individual who was prosecuted for large-scale false accounting. Again, after making detailed representations to the Crown, proceedings were dropped.
  • Siobhain Egan represented a University academic and research scientist who was investigated for dishonesty in a very unusual case. After robust and detailed representations were made to the fraud investigating authority, all criminal proceedings were dropped.
  • Siobhain also represented a professional man accused of fraud on his former employers over an 18-month period to the value of in excess of £15,000. He was sentenced to 10 months imprisonment suspended for 18 months and, very unusually, the matter was dealt with in the Magistrates’ Court by the superb Dee Connolly of counsel (Thomas Bingham chambers) who defended him.
