Our client, a professional man of good character, was alleged to have followed and harassed his estranged wife over a limited period.
During an all day trial in the Magistrates’ Court, our client produced a number of suits which he counter-alleged that his estranged wife had cut to pieces, together with a long series of emails from her sent to a colleague of his (several times a day), as well as his wife’s economic responses to the financial questionnaire in their divorce proceedings. Following this, our client was acquitted by a lay bench of magistrates when they concluded that her evidence did not sustain robust cross-examination. Our client stated that he believed that the allegation of harassment was raised in order that she prevent him from having access to their children.
Unan Choudhury was the solicitor and the superb Gerry Mohabir of the Public Defence Service was the barrister instructed.
