Firearms Appeal Resolved in Record Time

Crime & Fraud Cases

Last month our firearms law specialist Laura Saunsbury was instructed to act for a limited company which has for many years traded as a registered firearms dealer (RFD). As a defence contractor, our client has for sound security reasons always been discrete as to the precise location of their premises. Consequently, all Police and government licenses issued to the company have until very recently displayed only the company’s PO Box address. In May 2016 our client’s local Police Firearms Licensing Department insisted on renewing the company’s RFD certificate with the full street address printed on it, claiming that the use of PO Box addresses on certificates is contrary to the Firearms Act. However, within 24 hours of Laura serving a robust and detailed notice of appeal on the Chief Constable of the Constabulary and the Crown Court, the Police then agreed to reinstate the company’s RFD certificate on the same terms it had always been issued previously. In expressing his appreciation for the remarkably swift resolution of the situation by Laura Saunsbury and Nick Doherty of Counsel, who also advised in the matter, the director of the company described it as “An excellent service from knowledgeable professionals”.
