Our client was a carer accused of theft from an elderly man. He lived with the complainant, and in return for paying no rent or bills he provided informal care for him. When the complainant went into hospital, our client was entrusted with his debit card which he used to withdraw cash for the complainant. Afterwards he was accused by the complainant of stealing almost £2,000 from his bank account, but the jury took just 30 minutes to acquit our client of the theft.
